For those of you that don't know me, I am a wife to a wonderful man that has the patience of a saint, a mother to four magnificent children with wildly different personalities and a person finding my voice in this crazy world that we all have to occupy together. I started this blog along with my company not because I was lacking in having anything to do with my days, but instead I often find myself having way too much to do to fit into one day. I'm sure you can relate.
I work as an energy engineer and a small business owner all while attempting to keep the 9, 3 and 2 year old from re-enacting moves from WWE on each other. You know, what most of us as parents have to do from day to day. In the busyness of life I realized that I was still lacking in making a significantly positive impact on the world that I pray I will leave to my little ones.
So here we are, hopefully all striving to leave this world a little bit better than when we entered it. I desire to highlight some of those more positive things that are often left out of the news so that we can show our children that they are truly princes and princesses of the Most High and are made aware of a greater history and greater purpose than is often depicted in history books and on television. Let's have positive, open dialogue about how we can reshape the narrative that our children too often receive.
Christina Lewis founded New York city-based nonprofit All Star Code with the intention of providing young men of color with access to the tech field. This program prepares our young men for careers in the technology industry.
This year All Star Code raised over $1 Million to Expand their STEM program for black boys. Lewis developed this program after discovering that there were many programs for women in the tech field but very few resources for young black men. The work that she is doing will open doors for young men that may not have otherwise had the opportunity or resources to grow their passion of STEM related activities. Hat's off to Christina Lewis for her dedication to empowering our future leaders. Learn more about All Star Code here.
